The Wassenaar group of countries has agreed to a tentative change of export controls as applied to infrared detectors and cameras. According to the latest changes, microbolometers and microbolometer-based cameras (regardless of type) are included in the List of Dual-Use Goods and Technologies.

DRS Technologies has acquired Night Vision Equipment Corp., NVEC, for $42.5 million plus additional consideration if certain revenue targets are met. NVEC specializes in the rapid development and delivery of lightweight, affordable image intensification (I2) night vision, uncooled thermal imaging, reflective combat identification and laser-based products for U.S. and international militaries and paramilitary organizations.

DII System to Protect PortPREMIUM

Digital Infrared Imaging has been selected to provide infrared camera systems to provide perimeter security and surveillance at the Port of Beaumont in Texas.

CICM Uses UFPAs Against RPGsPREMIUM

United Defense Industries has developed a Close-in Counter Measure (CICM) active protection system to intercept incoming Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs). The system has been tested at the U.S. Army’s Redstone Technical Test Center.

United Defense Industries Industries is teaming with its Bofors Defence AB unit and GIAT Industries to offer the 155-mm BONUS precision munition to the U.S. artillery market.
